Doug “Red” Jensen
NEW ULM – Doug “Red” Jensen, 84, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor John Gabrielson officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section with full military honors being conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Saturday.

Doug is survived by his wife, Esther Jensen of New Ulm; sons, Mike Jensen of New Ulm, Larry (Terri) Jensen of Omaha, Nebraska, Dave (Karen) Jensen of Searles, Jeff (Cathy) Jensen of St. Paul, Bill (Larissa) Jensen of Winthrop; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and by his sister, Margretta Allickson of Montevideo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, Fred Jensen.
Douglas Mahlon Jensen was born Aug. 2, 1929 in Tracy to Frode and Pauline (Klukas) Jensen. He was a graduate of Montevideo High School. Doug served in the United States Army Tank Corps in Korea from 1950 to 1952. He was united in marriage to Esther Himley on April 11, 1953 in Montevideo. He was employed by the Minnesota State Patrol for 23 years and then the Minnesota Department of Transportation for 10 years until his retirement. Doug enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Doug was a very active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm, Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post #132 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #15 in New Ulm.
