Bulldogs hand Greyhounds a loss

New Ulm Cathedral 52

LESTER PRAIRIE – Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity defeated New Ulm Cathedral 75-52 Friday night in a non-conference boy’s basketball game. It was season opener for the Greyhounds.

Gabe Knowles had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Cathedral and Jacob Gangelhoff added 11 points and five rebounds.

The Greyhounds (0-1) will play at Mankato Loyola Monday.

Chaska 85, New Ulm 49

CHASKA – Chaska downed New Um 85-49 Friday night in a non-conference boy’s basketball game.

Grant Kannegiesser led the Eagles with 20 points and five rebounds and Jackson Yackley added 11 points.

The Eagles (0-1) host Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Monday.

Madelia 60,

Alden-Conger 46

MADELIA – Madelia defeated Alden-Conger 60-46 Friday night in the first round of the Madelia Tip-Off Tournament.

Riley Benzel led the Blackhawks with 15 points. Derrick VanHee added 13 points and Jack Bergeman scored 12 points.

Madelia (1-0) travels to Truman to play Truman-Martin Luther in the Tip-Off championship game tonight.

Sleepy Eye 79, WWG 76

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye edged Westbrook/Walnut Grove 79-76 Friday night in a non-conference boys basketball game.

Brandon Polesky led Sleepy Eye with 31 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Juan Montemayer scored 23 points, added five rebounds and five assists.

Sean Buckman scored 15 points while Alex Knutson and Walker Christian each added 14 points for W/WG.

Sleepy Eye (1-0) will go to Madelia to play the Blackhawks Tuesday night.

St. Clair 77,

Springfield 67

ST. CLAIR – St. Clair defeated Springfield in nonconference boys basketball action Friday.
