Knights fall in home invitational’s second day

SLEEPY EYE – Christ’s Household of Faith upset invitational host Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 54-46 on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions’ Alexandria Otten had a game-high 19 points, which was complemented by Kathleen Piepkorn’s 11.

The Knights (1-1) were led by Sabrina Portner, who had 14 points and seven rebounds, as well as Becca Schmitz, who had 13 points and eight rebounds.

St. Mary’s will return to action Friday, when it travels to Springfield.

Jackson County Central 57, Sleepy Eye 53

SLEEPY EYE – Jackson County Central defeated Sleepy Eye 57-53 at the St. Mary’s Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Kaylee Burmeister led the Huskies (1-1) as well as the game in scoring with 18 points. Sydney Eddy also had 11 points.

The Indians (1-1) were led by senior Claire Krumbach, who had 12 points and seven rebounds. Justine Gonzalez contributed 11 points and four steals, while Madison Heiderscheidt added 10 points.

Sleepy Eye’s next contest will be at Springfield on Tuesday.
