Gag buys Schanus Plumbing & Heating
NEW ULM – Gag Sheet Metal, Inc. bought Schanus Plumbing & Heating Inc., on Wednesday, Nov. 27. No initial changes are planned other than the business name which will be known as Schanus Gag Plumbing.
“We’ll continue with the same great service they (Schanuses) provided over the years. We’ll have the same guys out in the field,” John Gag said. “Paul and Mary Ellen Schanus plan to stay in New Ulm. They’ll help us with the transition and stay in New Ulm, with their family.”
Schanus Plumbing & Heating, 1326 S. Broadway, New Ulm, specialized in water softeners, reverse-osmosis water systems, iron filters, filtered faucets in cabinets and countertops, appliance repair and water supplies.
Last May, Gag Sheet Metal bought Isakson Plumbing & Heating, 1058 1st Ave., Gibbon. Isakson’s, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) contractors specialized in geothermal and other heating systems.
“The acquisitions put us in a better position to better serve more people with their needs,” Gag said. “We hope to add two or three people between the two companies, branching out with more light commercial plumbing and heating in the next year or so.”
Founded by George Gag in 1904, Gag Sheet Metal recently moved into a larger building with remodeled offices and a new shop and warehouse in New Ulm.
The company installs all types of roofing, specializing in flat roofs and architectural panels. The heating, ventilation and air conditioning side of the business works with all types of ventilation plus commercial kitchens and in-floor heat.
