Safety first at Parade of Lights
To the editor:
Everybody connected with the Parade of Lights parade should give a big THANK YOU to whomever it was, who, at the last minute, did not put the horse and trailer in the parade.
I could see that the horse was nervous and ready to bolt. I did mention my concern to the people involved, but was told that the horse would calm down if they would walk it a few blocks. I could see that the horse and wagon showed that the owner had spent a lot of time preparing them both for the parade, so it was a hard thing for them to cancel. We will never know if the horse would have bolted in the middle of the street, so crowded with children and adults, but if it had, what a catastrophic event it would have been!
