Harold Luehring

GIBBON – Harold Luehring, 90, of the Countryview Estates in Fairfax and formerly of Gibbon, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, Sibley County with Pastor Benjamin Rucker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Wednesday. To leave an online condolence for his family or to sign the guestbook go to: www.mvfh.org.

Harold is survived by his wife, Irene Luehring of Countryview Estates in Fairfax; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Myron Schwarzrock of Gibbon, and Joan and Bryan Sommer of Fairfax; grandchildren, Scott (Mandy) Schwarzrock, Laurie (John) Eriksen, Robb (Terri) Schwarzrock, Becky (Chad) Stocker, Jessica (Gerry) Domeier, Jenny (Robert) Meyer, Shelly (John) Caldwell, Ryan Hillmann, April (Nate) Firle, Melinda Sommer; great-grandchildren, Drew, Devon, Ethan, Olivia and Zachary Schwarzrock, Jack, Noah, and Ava Eriksen, Addy Stocker, Larissa DeRousse, Bailee and Braydee Meyer; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Hillmann; granddaughters, Hailey Sommer, Heide Schwarzrock; sisters, Irene Grewe, Lillian Loftness; brothers, Arthur Luehring; and Elmer Luehring in infancy.

Harold Ernest Luehring was born on Oct. 4, 1923 in Moltke Township to John and Emma (Panning) Luehring. On May 24, 1945 he was united in marriage to Irene Kiecker at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. They farmed the family farm in Moltke Township until 1980 when they retired. Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, fixing stuff, and especially farming. He served as the Moltke Township Clerk for 23 years. Harold was a member of the Gibbon Creamery Board, St. Peter’s School Board, Gibbon Co-op Elevator for 21 years and had been its secretary for some time, and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where he had served as an Elder and Choir Member for 25 years.
