Kevin J. Poirier
ROCHESTER – Kevin J. Poirier, age 53, of Rochester died suddenly on December 9, 2013 at Willows and Waters Senior Living Center in Rochester.
Kevin was born to James and Patricia (Murray) Poirier on Sept. 17, 1960 in Detroit, MI. Kevin grew up in the Detroit area and graduated from Michigan State University with a CPA degree and received a Master’s Degree in business at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. He married Angela Willger on Sept. 5, 1987 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dobie, WI.
Kevin worked as a CPA and was the co-founder of Beacon Promotions Inc. in New Ulm in 2003. Kevin loved rock n’ roll music, enjoyed reading suspense novels, playing softball and cards (500 being his favorite), of which he was very competitive.
Kevin is survived by his wife Angie Poirier, Rochester; his children: Michelle Poirier (Steve White) and Renee Poirier, both of Plymouth; Anthony “AJ” Poirier, Rochester; his parents James and Patricia Poirier, Allen Park, MI; his brothers and sisters: Mike (Elizabeth) Poirier, Dearborn, MI; Catherine (Tom) Willger, Rice Lake; Celeste Leach, Detroit, MI; James (Laurie) Poirier, Sterling Heights, MI; Chris (Sue) Poirier, Southgate, MI; and Mari (Luigi)Pecci, Dearborn Heights, MI. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Poirier.
Kevin was diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia (a type of Alzheimer’s) in 2008. Even though he lost most of his independence he never lost his spirit and ability to show his love in the simplest of ways. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Research in memory of Kevin J. Poirier.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dobie, WI with Fr. Gerard Willger (brother-in-law to Kevin) officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 13 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m., and 1 hour prior to the mass on Saturday.
