Pat, the son of Ferd and Betty Krenz, was born on March 17, 1948 in Sleepy Eye. He attended country school in rural Sleepy Eye and Sleepy Eye Public School. After graduating high school in 1965, he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a flight engineer on a flight crew flying missions in Vietnam. After leaving the Navy, he returned to Sleepy Eye where he proudly served on the Sleepy Eye Police Department for three years and then the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, retiring as a Sergeant Deputy Sheriff in 2003.
Pat was devoted to his daughter and son, Elise and Stu, and his four grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers, nephews and closest friends, playing cards, golfing and traveling, especially to Germany and Alaska. Pat thoroughly enjoyed being with the gang at the Sleepy Eye Servicemen’s Club, where he also served as the gambling manager and volunteered many hours.
Pat is survived by his wife, Leah of Sleepy Eye; mother, Betty of Sleepy Eye; daughter Elise (Ousman) Camara of Brooklyn Park; son Stuart of Newport; four grandchildren, Zainab, Abdulie, Jocelyn and Maggie; six brothers, Larry (Kathy), Keith (Lynette), Ken (Jan), Mark (Chandra), Lynn (Joyce) and Rick (Patti); uncle and aunt, Jerry and Georgia Adams, and many nieces and nephews.
