WILLMAR – Tyler Richards, age 22, of Willmar, formerly of Stewart, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at his home in Willmar.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hector.
Interment in the Boon Lake Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector, and continues for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Tyler Thomas Richards was born on August 26, 1991, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the son of Charles and Natalie (Folsom) Richards. He was baptized on November 17, 1991, at the United Methodist Church in Hector, and was later confirmed there in 2006. Tyler grew up in the Buffalo Lake – Hector area, and graduated from the BLH High School in 2009. After graduation, he continued his education in Grand Forks, North Dakota, for one semester. In the fall of 2010, Tyler transferred to Ridgewater College in Hutchinson for his general courses. In 2011, Tyler entered the Electrician Program at the Willmar Campus of Ridgewater College. He was on pace to graduate in May of 2014.
During his high school years, Tyler loved playing football and baseball, and was a Captain his senior year in both sports. He loved hunting, especially for pheasants and ducks with his dogs, Bevo and Mickey. He enjoyed working with his Uncle Leslie Karl feeding calves and helping on the farm.
Throughout high school and into his college years, Tyler worked at Form-A-Feed in Stewart. He was also a grounds keeper at Oakdale Golf Course. He truly loved to work outdoors. He temporarily worked at 3M in 2011 until he started working for Divine House, Inc. as the Program Coordinator of Collegeview. He also coached basketball for Special Olympics, and truly enjoyed the time spent coaching.
Tyler passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at his home in Willmar, having reached the age of 22 years. Blessed be his memory.
Tyler is survived by his Parents, Charles and Natalie Richards of Stewart; Sister Courtney Richards of Stewart; Grandmother Hazel Richards of Hector; Many Aunts, Uncles, Great-Aunts and Great-Uncles, Cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Tyler was preceded in death by his paternal Grandfather Lowell Richards, maternal Grandparents Michael Sr. and Mildred Folsom, Great-Grandparents Ed and Viola Woelfel, and by many Great-Aunts and Great-Uncles, and childhood friend Theodore Skolberg.
