Boy’s roundup: Lange, Kubesh lead BLHS with 22 points each

New Ulm Cathedral 47

HECTOR – Tate Lange and Kyle Kubesh each scored 22 points to lead Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart past New Ulm Cathedral 59-47 on Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference boy’s basketball game.

Michael Skillings led the Greyhounds with 13 points, five rebounds and three steals. Tyler Franta scored seven points, had five rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

New Ulm Cathedral (1-5, 1-3) hosts St. Clair (4-1, 1-1) on Monday night.

Sleepy Eye 79,

S.E. St. Mary’s 73

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye defeated Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 79-73 in a Tomahawk Conference boy’s basketball match up Friday.

Sleepy Eye’s Brandon Polesky scored 39 points and Juan Montemayer scored 22.

St. Mary’s Payton Adams led the team with 16 points and John Brandl added 15.

Sleepy Eye (3-3, 1-1 Tomahawk) will travel to Northrop to face Martin Luther on Monday.

St. Mary’s (2-2, 0-2) will host Wabasso on Tuesday.

Springfield 56, CM/C 42

MORGAN – Springfield defeated Cedar Mountain/Comfrey 56-42 in a Tomahawk Conference boy’s basketball game on Friday night.

Tyler Vogel led the Tigers (3-3, 2-1 Tomahwk) with 22 points, while Cooper Scheffler contributed 16.

The Cougars (2-4, 1-3) were led by Javin Larsen’s 11 points. Brady and Riley Kerkhoff each had 10 points apiece.

Springfield returns to action next Friday at New Ulm Cathedral, while CM/C will play at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City next Thursday.

Nicollet 79,

Immanuel Lutheran 60

NICOLLET -Nicollet earned its first win of the season by defeating Immanuel Lutheran 79-60 on Friday night in boy’s basketball. This was a nonconference game.

Matt Christenson led Nicollet with 25 points and 19 rebounds. Colin Bloemke scored 13 points and had seven assists. Jay Hendrycks had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Nicollet (1-3, 0-1 Valley) hosts St. Clair (4-1, 1-1) next Thursday night in a Valley Conference matchup.

Madelia 71,

Alden-Conger 48

MADELIA – Madelia outscored Alden-Conger 33-20 in the second half to win 71-48 on Friday night in a Valley Conference boy’s basketball game.

Derrick Van Hee was 5-for-11 from 3-point range and scored 20 points, had six rebounds, two steals and two assists. Jack Bergeman also scored 20 points and added six rebounds.

Eli Hallman led Alden-Conger with 16 points.

Madelia (3-3, 1-2) will play at Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial next Thursday night.

Mountain Lake Area 66, Red Rock Central 35

LAMBERTON – Mountain Lake Area defeated Red Rock Central 66-35 on Friday night in a Red Rock Conference boy’s basketball game.

Thomas Blomgren scored 13 points for RRC and Austin Price added 11 points and five rebounds.

Carter Kirk led Mountain Lake Area with 19 points and Cody Clausen added 10 points.

RRC (0-5, 0-4) will play at Fulda on Tuesday.
