NEW ULM – Robert Haubrich, 87, formerly of New Ulm, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The St. Joseph’s-St. Elizabeth’s Catholic United will pray the rosary at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Robert is survived by his son, Martin Haubrich of Provo, Utah; a sister, Helen Eckstein of New Ulm; brothers, Thomas (Frances) Haubrich and Leon (Marian) Haubrich all of New Ulm; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy; a niece, Kathy Haubrich; and a brother-in-law, Leo F. Eckstein.
Robert Walter Haubrich was born June 18, 1926 in New Ulm to Edward and Josephine (Arnoldy) Haubrich. He was a graduate and class valedictorian of Holy Trinity High School in 1944. Robert served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1947. After his honorable discharge from the Armed Forces, Robert attended and graduated from Iowa State College with a degree in Agricultural Engineering.
Robert lived in Holtville, Calif. where he was employed by the University of California in agricultural research until his retirement. He became a resident of the Gil-Mor Manor in 2002. Robert was a member of the St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth’s Catholic United.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools or to the donor’s choice.
