SPRINGFIELD – Jeffrey Peter Menage, 49, of Springfield, died on Dec. 17, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Springfield.
Service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Springfield, on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 11 am. The clergy will be Pastor Julie Smith. A reception and fellowship will continue following services at the Springfield Community Center.
Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel and will continue on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Springfield.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Jeffrey Peter Menage was born Feb. 23, 1964, in Britt Iowa to Karen and Elmer Menage. He attended elementary and high school in Luverne, graduating in 1982. He attended Willmar JC for two years. Jeff completed his undergraduate degree in Education at Southwest State in Marshall in 1987. Coach Menage’s first teaching/ coaching job was in Spring Valley. After one year there he relocated to Worthington to coach and teach in both the Worthington education system and at Worthington Community College. Jeff’s next stop was the University of Minnesota as a graduate assistant with Golden Gopher Football. While at the U of M, Jeff achieved his Master’s Degree. During this time he met Julie Stumpf and they were united in marriage at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Worthington on July 25, 1992. Together they blazed a coaching trail through Morningside College, Westmar College, South Dakota State University, the University of North Dakota, and finally Murray State in Murray, Ky. In 2006 Jeff and his family joined the Springfield Community as their State Farm Agent. As Springfield’s “Good Neighbor,” Jeff was involved in Rotary and was a dedicated supporter of all Springfield activities. Most recently he was on the staff of the National Football Academies as a Certified C2 Teacher specializing in Quarterback Mechanics. Recently he spent nine days in Denmark and Sweden teaching the game he loves, American Football, to the respective national teams in each country. Jeff is lovingly remembered by his wife of 21 years, and his children, Jacob, a freshman at SDSU and Jordyn, a junior at Springfield HS.
On Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, Jeff passed away at the age of 49 years one month and six days.
He is survived by his wife Julie, children Jacob and Jordyn of Springfield; parents, Elmer and Karen (Anderson) Menage of Luverne; a sister, Kristin (Randy) Kuechenmeister of Blue Earth and their children, Joseph and Kateyln; and a brother, Tom (Amy) Menage of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and their children, Peter and Paige.
