New Ulm beats BEA in first conference meet of season

BLUE EARTH – The New Ulm gymnastics team beat Blue Earth Area 130.5-114.35 in its first South Central Conference meet on Friday night.

New Ulm freshman Molly Klimek took first in the all-around category with a 33.475. Klimek placed in the top three in all four events – third in vault (8.75), third in bars (7.7), first in beam (8.3) and first in floor (8.725).

Senior Emily Gulden tied Blue Earth Area’s Haley Resutek for first on bars with a score of 7.95, while New Ulm’s Allison Rosenhamer took first on vault with an 8.925.

Resutek finished second in the all-around with a 33.15, while Gulden finished third with a 32.675.

New Ulm also beat Blue Earth Area in the junior varsity competition 113.25-76.

New Ulm will continue conference action next Friday, when it hosts St. Peter at 6 p.m.
