NEW?ULM – Myerl Nelson, 84, of New Ulm, died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland with Pastor Wayne Bernau officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Friday.

Myerl is survived by her husband, Norman Nelson of New Ulm; brothers, Willard Bode of New Ulm, Gene (Shirley) Bode of New Ulm, Lester (Lenora) Bode of New London, Gerold (Carole) Bode of New Ulm, Glenn (Bonnie) Bode of Courtland, Marcus (Rachel) Bode of Courtland, Frank (Marcy) Bode New Ulm; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Duane Bode in infancy; sister-in-law, Erma Jean “Tootie” Bode; and a brother-in-law, William Nelson.
Myerl Bernice Bode was born November 30, 1929 in rural Courtland to Arthur F. and Beatrice (Freiderich) Bode. She was a graduate of Nicollet High School. After high school Myerl was employed at Citizens Bank and the Eagle Roller Mill in New Ulm. She was united in marriage to Norman Nelson on October 25, 1958 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland. After marriage they lived in St. Louis Park where she was employed at Prudential Insurance Company and then retired and moved to Mabel. They then moved to Edina and then to New Ulm in 2009. Myerl enjoyed collecting fine china, glassware and silver. She also loved getting together with her Confirmation class twice a year. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland.
