GFW boys run past Sleepy Eye

GFW 73, Sleepy Eye 60

SLEEPY EYE – Seth Schuette and Jack Bussler each scored 22 points to lead Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop past Sleepy Eye on Friday night in Tomahawk Conference boys basketball action.

Brandon Polesky had 28 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for Sleepy Eye while Isaiah Krumbach added 15 points and he had seven rebounds

Sleepy Eye (3-8) will play at Buffalo Lake-Hector- Stewart (4-6) Tuesday night.

GFW (5-6) will host Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s Tuesday.

CM/C 69, MVL 51

MORGAN – Cedar Mountain-Comfrey defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference boy’s basketball game.

Javin Larsen scored 28 points for CM/C and Brady Kerkhoff added 20 points.

CM/C did not submit any stats for MVL.

CM/C (5-7) will travel to Wabasso (6-4) to play the Rabbits Tuesday night.

MVL (4-8) will play at New Ulm Cathedral (4-7) on Tuesday night.

Springfield 69

WABASSO – Wabasso hung on to take a win against Springfield Friday in a Tomahawk boy’s basketball game.

Wabasso’s Neil Eichten led the team with 36 points and six rebounds.

Tanner Bock added 15 and 29 rebounds and Beau Taylor scored 10 points.

Springfield’s Kale Meendering scored 18 points. Cooper Scheffler scored 16 points and Carter Erickson added 15 points.

Springfield will host Redwood Valley Monday.

Wabasso will travel to Red Rock Central today for a boy/girl doubleheader.

Ellsworth 81, RRC 44

LAMBERTON- Ellsworth defeated Red Rock Central in a nonconference boy’s basketball game Friday.

Ellsworth was led by Drew Cheskie with 20 points.

RRC’s Thomas Blomgran scored 17 points and Austin Price added 10 points.

RRC (0-10 overall, 0-7 in conference) will host Wabasso today.

Madelia 65, Cleveland 56

MADELIA – Derrick VanHee led Madelia with 17 points and five steals as the Blackhawks defeated Cleveland in Valley Conference boy’s basketball action Friday night.

Jack Bergeman also had 17 points, along with four steals and five assists. Garhoth Dak finished with 11 points and Zach Baumgartner had seven rebounds for Madelia (4-7, 2-3).
