Planning Commission tables dairy permit, waits for updated records
NEW ULM – The Brown County Planning Commission unanimously tabled a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) Application of HCH Dairy, LLP, in Section 36, Albin Township Tuesday.
Brown County Zoning Administrator Laine Sletta said the application to continue to allow up to 392 animal unit (AU) dairy cattle and operation of a 125 feet by 278 feet by 12 feet earthen (animal waste holding) basin lacked updated manure management plan records but a letter requesting the data was recently sent from his office to HCH Dairy.
A motion to approve the application pending receipt of updated records died for lack of a second.
Sletta said he has received no complaints about the dairy operation and expected to receive the updated data in time for the next planning commission meeting set for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11.
The Planning Commission unanimously approved single-lot splits by Connie Johnson in Section 23, Bashaw Township; and Charles Grossmann, Section 5, Linden Township, for existing homesteads being split off from tillable land.
The commission unanimously re-elected 2013 officers for 2014 -Chairman Leo Wilfahrt, Vice Chairman Brian Tohal and Secretary Anita Mohr.
