Donny was preceded in death by his father and mother; his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Larry Morris; and his nephew, Gregory Morris.
Donny was born to Wilbert and Esther (Klein) Mammenga in Lisbon, N.D., on Dec. 17, 1940. In 1949, the family moved to New Ulm, where Donny attended school. In 1959, Donny enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as a boilerman for eight full years, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. Donny was honorably discharged in 1968. He returned to New Ulm and attended vocational school for appliance repair.
Prior to his retirement, Donny worked for both the New Ulm Medical Center and the City of New Ulm. In his leisure time, Donny enjoyed doing yard work, hunting for morel mushrooms, fishing, woodworking, and watching football, Western movies, and nature programs. Donny was a fiercely proud Veteran, a die-hard (if disenchanted) Vikings fan, a jokester, and a great story-teller. He was also a dear friend and a very loving son, brother, and uncle.
