New Ulm girls pick up second victory of season

MAPLETON – New Ulm picked up it’s second win of the season with a 63-41 win over Maple River in nonconference girl’s basketball action Saturday.

Brianna Sieve and Hunter Ahlness each led New ulm with 10 points.

New Ulm (2-11) is at Redwood Valley on Tuesday.

Cathedral 45,

Sleepy Eye 32

NEW ULM – New Ulm Cathedral’s defense help Sleepy Eye to only 32 points in the Tomahawk Conference victory on Saturday.

Karlee Pfaff led the Greyhounds with 15 points and Kristin Mohr had 12 points and nine rebounds. Mohr was also big at the free throw line down the stretch for Cathedral as she hit 10-of-12 from the line.

Lindsay Simon and Anne Schwarz had big defensive games for the Greyhounds, pulling down nine rebounds apiece.

Sleepy Eye was led by Justine Gonzalez, who had 10 points for the Indians. Claire Krumbach scored eight points and Josie Schieffert finished with eight points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks.

Cathedral (7-4, 4-4 Tomahawk) meets undefeated Wabasso at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Wabasso, while Sleepy Eye (9-7, 4-5) plays Wabasso at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Sleepy Eye.
