Two Willmar men die in a one-car rollover accident
OLIVIA – Two Willmar men were killed when they were ejected from their vehicle in a one-car rollover accident on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred about 3:15 p.m. Friday on Renville County Road 16, about ll miles northwest of Hector. A 2001 Dodge Caravan, driven by Jose Prado-Marquez, 39, of Willmar, was traveling north when it hit a patch of snow or ice on the road, and the driver lost control. The vehicle entered the ditch and rolled several times.
Two passengers, Jose Lopez Deleon, 31, and Julio A. Giron, 23, both of Willmar, were ejected from the vehicle. They were not wearing seat belts, according to the Renville County Sheriff’s office. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Prado-Marquez, who was wearing his seatbelt, and a third passenger, Ramon Contreras, 50, of Willmar, were taken by ambulance to the Hutchinson Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
