Brown, Nicollet County dairy princesses crowned
NEW?ULM – The Brown County and the Nicollet County Dairy Associations crowned their 2014 County Dairy Princesses during a joint coronation on Saturday, Jan. 25. The annual banquet, coronation and meeting were held in the Fellowship Hall at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
Crowned 2014 Brown County Dairy Princess was Mary Rosenhammer, daughter of John and Patty Rosenhammer; and Maggie Sellner, daughter of Loran and Heidi Sellner, all of Sleepy Eye. Crowned Nicollet County Dairy Princess were Stacey Schugel of New Ulm, daughter of Dan and Shelley Schugel; and Megan Struss, daughter of Paul and Mary Struss of Courtland.
In addition, Brown and Nicollet County Dairy Associations also selected their 2014 Dairy Ambassadors. Representing Brown County as a Dairy Ambassador are Sabrina Portner, daughter of Tom and Mary Portner; Isabella Portner, daughter of Tom and Mary Portner; Becca Rosenhammer, daughter of John and Patty Rosenhammer; Bethany Seifert, daughter of Steve and Barb Seifert; and Natalie Sellner, daughter of Dean and Karen Sellner, all of Sleepy Eye.
Nicollet County’s 2014 Dairy Ambassador is Emily Annexstad, daughter of Rolf and Jean Annexstad of St. Peter.
All the princesses will have the opportunity to advance to a statewide training seminar, and Princess Kay finalist selection on May 16-18 representing their county. At the event, 12 finalists will be selected to compete for the title of 61st Princess Kay of the Milky Way in August.
Dairy princesses serve as the goodwill ambassadors for the dairy industry making numerous appearances throughout the year promoting the dairy industry. The dairy princess program is funded through the dairy promotion check-off, which works to create demand for dairy products and is funded through local dairy farmers.
