County Board approves Family Services contract
NEW ULM – Brown County commissioners unanimously approved a family Group Decision-Making Contract at their Tuesday meeting.
Brown County serves as the host county for a $54,271 grant between Greater Minnesota Family Services and Brown County Family Services covering Brown, Blue Earth, Nicollet, Sibley and Watonwan counties.
The service provides an intensive family group process that helps extended and immediate family deal with neglect or abuse of one of their family units.
In other action, commissioners unanimously approved:
Watonwan County’s request of Family Services/Public Health Administrative Services Assistance. Family Services Director Tom Henderson and Public Health Director Karen Moritz reviewed the request and agreed to provide assistance within the agreement limits.
Approving a market adjustment of $2,500 (plus general increase) to Brown County Assessor Rita Treml effective Jan. 28, 2014. The adjustment came after a review of of a 15-county salary survey.
Appointing Ann Gieseke as full-time Public Health Administrative Supervisor at an annual salary of $40,474, effective Feb. 3. Gieseke has previous experience as a Public Health Account Clerk, a Child Support Enforcement Aide, a Record Clerk and an Account Technician. She was the only qualified internal applicant interviewed for the job.
A thank you letter dated Jan. 27, from Brown County Veterans Service Officer Greg Peterson to Brown County Appraiser Malcolm Davis for his “self-less acts of generosity,” taking messages to veterans in Springfield and Sleepy Eye, often during nighttime hours. Peterson said Davis’ actions helped a disabled veteran and his spouse quickly apply for state benefits.
