GFW boys roll over Wabasso, St. Mary’s wins

GFW 72, Wabasso 50

WINTHROP – Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop rolled over Wabasso in Tomahawk Conference boy’s basketball action on Tuesday.

Seth Schuette and Jack Bussler scored 23 and 19 points, respectively, to lead the Thunderbirds.

Neil Eichten led all scorers with 29 points for the Rabbits, and Tanner Bock added 14 points.

GFW (10-6, 9-2) will host Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Thursday, while Wabasso (9-7, 5-5) will play at home on Friday against Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s.

Southwestern United 71, RRC 54

LAMBERTON – Southwestern United built upon a 38-21 half time lead en route to a win over Red Rock Central Tuesday night in a Red Rock Conference boys basketball game.

Thomas Blomgren led RRC with 15 points and Sam Halter scored 12 points, he had eight rebounds and five assists.

RRC (0-15, 0-11) will host Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Thursday.

St. Mary’s 83,

Sleepy Eye 59

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Sleepy Eye in a Tomahawk Conference boy’s basketball game on Tuesday night.

John Brandl led the Knights with 22 points while Mike Hirsch and Payton Adams scored 12 points apiece.

Brandon Polesky scored 25 points for Sleepy Eye, while Austin Trebesch added 15.

Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s (9-6, 6-4) will play at Wabasso on Friday night. Sleepy Eye (4-13, 2-8) will at Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman on Thursday.

Springfield 88, CM/C 79

SPRINGFIELD – Springfield defeated Cedar Mountain/Comfrey in a Tomahawk Conference boy’s basketball game on Tuesday.

Cooper Scheffler led the Tigers with 23 points. Tyler Vogel had 21 points and Kale Meendering added 17 points.

Riley Kerkhoff led all scorers with 24 points, and Brady Kerkhoff had 17 points for CMC.

Springfield (7-8, 6-3) plays at home on Friday against New Ulm Cathedral, while CM/C (7-10, 5-7) plays at home against Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Thursday.

Marshall 65, Redwood Valley 56

MARSHALL – Redwood Valley fell to Marshall in a Southwest Conference boys’ basketball game on Tuesday.

Sam Pendleton had 25 points in the loss, and Taquez Perkins had 10 points.

Redwood Valley (12-4, 6-2) will play at home on Friday against Windom.
