Tigers hold on to beat T-Birds

Springfield 67, GFW 66

SPRINGFIELD – Joeli Arnoldi dropped two free throws with seven seconds left to lift Springfield against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a Tomahawk Conference girl’s basketball game on Monday night.

Taylor Milbrath led the Tigers with 17 points with six rebounds. Arnoldi scored 16 points, seven assists and four rebounds.

Halley Busse scored 25 points for GFW. Lexi Kruggel added 14 points.

Springfield (8-8, 7-5) will play Red Rock Central on Thursday in Lamberton.

GFW hosts St. James on Thursday.

Wabasso 60, BLHS 40

WABASSO – Wabasso clinched at least a share of the Tomahawk Conference title Monday night in its win against Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in girl’s basketball.

Chelsey Guetter scored 17 points and had 14 rebounds. Morgan Frank added 12 points with 11 rebounds. Karlee Eichten scored 11 points with 12 rebounds.

Katie Kalenberg led BLHS with 13 points.

Wabasso (17-0, 12-0) will play at Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Friday night. BLHS is at Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity on Thursday.

St. Peter 73, New Ulm 59

ST. PETER – St. Peter took advantage of 27 New Ulm turnovers to prevail in a South Central Conference girls basketball game Monday night.

Kelsey Anderson led the Eagles with 15 points. Meleah Reinhart scored 13 points and Nikki Dittrich added 12 points.

New Ulm (3-13) will host Waseca on Thursday night.

Sleepy Eye 44, CM/C 39

COMFREY – Sleepy Eye defeated Cedar Mountain/Comfrey Monday night in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game.

Andrea Ochs scored 17 points she had seven rebounds and seven assists for CM/C. Brianna Lund scored 12 points and she had nine rebounds.

Claire Krumbach scored 14 points and she had nine rebounds for Sleepy Eye. McKayla Ahlrich scored 10 points and she added 12 rebounds. Josie Schieffert had 15 rebounds.

CM/C (9-7, 6-7) will host Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Thursday night.

Nicollet 69,

Martin Luther 48

NICOLLET – Nicollet defeated Martin Luther Monday night in a Valley Conference girls basketball game.

Emily Skrien scored 17 points, she had eight steals and six assists for Nicollet. Natasha Young Kruse scored 14 points and she had 15 rebounds. Alyssa Wagner added 10 points, she had six rebounds and five assists.

Nicollet (7-10, 7-6) will host Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Thursday night.
