Buffalo Lake man faces drug charges

OLIVIA – A 28-year-old Buffalo Lake man faces felony 2nd degree controlled substance and possession of substances with intent to manufacture methamphetamine (meth) charges in Renville County District Court.

According to the complaint, Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville Drug Task Force agents breached the main door of Brandon James Schroeder’s split level home, entered a basement room with many locks and latches and seized 10.8 grams of methamphetamine, pipes, water bongs, lighters, torches, a scale, a vase with liquid, a hose with a connected glass pipe and plastic baggies that later tested positive for meth and took Schroeder into custody.

Agents entered a padlocked closet and seized substances associated with making meth including white gas acid and alcohol. Chemicals were in boxes that contained glass jars and other containers, paper filters and hoses. Hot plates and boxes of matches were found, according to the complaint.

Schroeder’s unconditional bail was set at $150,000, $50,000 with conditions Thursday, according to a Renville County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Two felony counts of 2nd degree sale of a controlled substance were filed against Schroeder Wednesday in McLeod County District Court. A complaint alleged he sold meth to a confidential informant three times, as recently as Dec. 13, 2013 in Brownton.

Drug Task Force agents and a confidential informant bought meth from Schroeder at his Buffalo Lake residence on Oct. 18 and Nov. 21, 2013. The informant allegedly bought meth from Schroeder Dec. 19, 2013 outside the Lake Marion Supper Club near Brownton, according to the complaint.

Schroeder allegedly took $240 from the informant and directed him to a stick in a snowbank, where a cigarette pack with 2.7 grams of meth was found, according to the complaint. Schroeder had previous controlled substance convictions in 2011 and 2005, according to court records.
