New Ulm man killed in early morning crash
NEW ULM – A New Ulm man, Randyn R. Groebner, was killed in a single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 14 early Saturday morning.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Liam P. Kelly, 22, of New Ulm was driving a 2005 Mini Cooper west on Highway 14 near the junction of North Highland Avenue at about 4 a.m. Saturday. In the car with him were Groebner, 27, of New Ulm, and Ryan S. Kelly, 27, of New Ulm.
The State Patrol said Kelly lost control of the car on dry pavement, and went off the shoulder to the right, hitting a snow bank and causing the car to roll multiple times before coming to a rest on its roof on Westridge Road.
Groebner was killed in the accident. The two Kellys were both seriously injured and were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. HCMC reported Liam Kelly was in satisfactory condition Saturday evening, and information was pending on Ryan Kelly’s condition.
