Marshall romps New Ulm boys

Marshall 85, New Ulm 33

MARSHALL – The New Ulm boy’s basketball team dropped a nonconference game against Marshall on Tuesday night.

Grant Kannegiesser and Matt Rowley each scored 10 points to lead the Eagles.

New Ulm drops to 4-21 and will host Le Sueur-Henderson on Thursday evening.

Wabasso 76, Minneota 71

WABASSO – Neil Eichten and Tanner Bock combined to score 62 of the Rabbits’ 76 points in a nonconference win over Minneota/Lincoln HI on Tuesday night.

Eichten scored 22 of his 33 points in the first half to lead Wabasso, while Bock turned in a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds.

Wabasso improves to 12-12 overall and will travel to Central Minnesota Christian for the Class A Section 3 opener on Saturday.

CMC 60, Lakeview 56

MORGAN – The Cedar Mountain/Comfrey boys basketball team picked up a nonconference win over Lakeview on Tuesday night.

Chandler Rose led the Cougars with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Javin Larsen added 13 points and 10 assists for the Cougars.

The Cougars improve to 12-12 on the season and will travel to Worthington for a game on Thursday.

Springfield 83,

Sleepy Eye 63

SLEEPY EYE – Springfield defeated Sleepy Eye on Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference boy’s basketball game.

Tyler Vogel led the Tigers with 25 points. Cooper Scheffler scored 21 points and Nick Runck added 15 points.

Brandon Polesky scored 25 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and had five assists for Sleepy Eye. Juan Montemayor scored 11 points and Austin Trebesh added 10 points.

Sleepy Eye (7-17) will play on Thursday at Nicollet in the first round of the Section 2A, North Subsection tournament.

Madelia 55, Truman 50

MADELIA – Madelia defeated Truman in Valley Conference boy’s basketball action on Tuesday.

The Jayhawks shot 50 percent from the field in the game and were led by Derrick Van Hee’s 14 points, eight assists, five rebounds and three steals. Austin Denn had 10 points and Kyle Schultz had 13 points and three steals. Riley Benzel finished with eight points for Madelia.

Madelia (9-16) opens Section 2A playoff action at 7 p.m. Thursday at Southwest United.
