SLEEPY EYE – Delores Soukup, age 84, of Sleepy Eye, died on March 3, 2014, at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Saturday, March 8 at 10:30 a.m. The clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski. Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 7:30 until 10 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel. There will be a parish prayer service at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Delores Ann Soukup was born June 11, 1929 in New Ulm, the daughter of Henry and Elsie (Zimonski) Kuebler. She attended Sleepy Eye Public School where she graduated with the class of 1947. Delores married Francis Soukup on Oct. 22, 1949, and the couple lived on a farm north of Sleepy Eye. She worked many years at the extension office in Sleepy Eye, then Del Monte before retiring. The couple moved to Sleepy Eye in 1992 where she lived in her home until moving to Divine Providence Community Home on Jan. 16, 2013. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Ladies VFW Auxiliary. Delores enjoyed working on the farm canning, gardening, and having card parties with friends. She always enjoyed laughing and being with people and helping wherever she could.
Delores is survived by her only son Patrick and wife Mary Soukup of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Jackie (Nick) Barnes, and Chris (Darcy) Huwe; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Barnes, Trenten Barnes, Jaden Geiser, Kara Huwe, and Khloe Huwe; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Francis in 2001; and sisters, Ethel and Leona.
