Sex offender notification meeting canceled after man moves out of Sleepy Eye
SLEEPY EYE – Police canceled a public notification meeting for a 35-year-old, Risk Level 3 Sex Offender Wednesday after it was learned that he does not plan to live in Sleepy Eye.
The public notification meeting about Matthew J. Lyngen was originally set for 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 20 at the St. Mary’s Church Social Room. He moved to Sleepy Eye on Feb. 26, prompting the public meeting. He has since moved to Minneapolis and has re-registered with Minneapolis police.
Lyngen had a history of sexual contact with three to nine-year-old female victims he knew, according to a Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) fact sheet. He has served a court-imposed sentence.
