Kimball man dies in head-on crash near Winthrop

WINTHROP -A 43-year-old Kimball man died in a two-vehicle, head-on crash that occurred at 6:08 a.m. Monday on State Highway 15, one mile south of Winthrop.

Charlan D. Kaml was not wearing a seat belt, but an airbag deployed. However, he died from injuries received while driving a1999 Buick Regal northbound on Highway 15. Kaml collided in the southbound lane with a 2013 Ford pickup truck driven by John T. Lott, 33, Winthrop, who was southbound. Lott wore a seat belt and an airbag deployed in his truck. He was transported to New Ulm Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both Vehicles were demolished. The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office and Winthrop Ambulance assisted.
