NEW ULM – Larry Waibel, 55, of New Ulm died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm with full military honors being conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm. Larry is survived by his wife, Debra Waibel of New Ulm; parents, Leo and Ruth Waibel of New Ulm; sisters, Cheryl (Ken) Clyne, Brenda (Randy) Watson, all of New Ulm; brother, Steven (Barb) Waibel of New Ulm; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Lois Sehr; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Sharon) Sehr, Dawayne (Debbie) Sehr, Darla (Dennis) Cummings; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Florence Rewitzer, Charles and Mary Waibel.
Larry John Waibel was born on May 22, 1958 in New Ulm to Leo and Ruth (Rewitzer) Waibel. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1977. On February 16, 1979, he was united in marriage to Debra Sehr at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. After high school, Larry enlisted in the United States Army, serving from September 1977 until August 1982. He then went on to further his education, studying welding at Mankato Tech Institute. Larry worked as a welder at Coleman Powermate in New Ulm for 12 years and then at Artstone in New Ulm for the next 16 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and playing the concertina. Larry was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm and New Ulm Hospice.
