Morgan Players present ‘Touchtone M For Murder’

MORGAN – Celebrating their 26th year, the Morgan Community Players will perform the two-act, “whodunit” murder/mystery/comedy “Touchtone M For Murder” April 4-6 in the Cedar Mountain High School Auditorium.

Detective Sam Slade (played by Doug Kopischke) needs the help of the audience in solving the mystery. He goes to the Clam Cove Inn island resort in marital pursuit of his girlfriend, Lila Dean (played by Kristin Erdmann).

Lila sets her sights on introducing her fried clams recipe to Colonel Horace Clamskey (Galen Engholm), the stingy and generally nasty owner of the Crazy For Clams restaurant chain. He’s accompanied by his secretly adoring secretary (Vashti Sperl), his spoiled niece (Paula Zobal) and her doting cowboy suitor (Jeff Sorenson), his spinster schoolteacher sister (Vanessa Hoffmann), and his irritating cousin, Calvin Cobb (Dustin Hoffmann).

Sam finds Lila, but also stumbles upon the murder of the Colonel. Motives are discovered among the guests as a powerful hurricane approaches the island.

Then the Colonel’s niece is kidnapped. Who could it be? The Wiltons (Doug Daub and Char Carlson) with their obnoxious children (Bill Vollbrecht and Beke Krenz)? A bird-watching enthusiast (Shay All Runner)? An eccentric New York cartoonist (Ken Johnson) looking for peace and quiet? Or the Beaupree Sisters, Faith, Hope and Charity (Julia Grams, Eileen Rothmeier, and Judi Granstra), who manage the Inn left to them by their late father?

Sam Slade untangles the twisted plot of intrigue, eventually apprehending the killer, thanks to help from the audience.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 4-5 and a 1:30 p.m. Sunday matinee. The New Horizons Club will serve coffee and bars after evening performances. The Morgan Lions Club will serve a spaghetti dinner from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the St. Michael church basement. All are welcome to attend both events.
