Wendelin J. Braun, age 90, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Service will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Saturday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m.
The clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski.
Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 7:30 until 10 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a Parish Prayer Service Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wendelin J. Braun was born on March 24, 1924 in Stark Township the son of Aloys and Loretta (Hoffmann) Braun. He grew up in Stark Township and attended District 39 Country School. After his schooling he farmed in Stark Township for several years. He married Delrose Berberich on May 20, 1946 in Leavenworth. The couple lived and farmed in Brookville Township for many years moving into Sleepy Eye in 1976. Wendelin also ran a road grading business for many years, retiring in 1982. Wendelin and Delrose purchased their first motor home in 1975 traveling to all 50 states including other locations in Canada. They also traveled to Germany and spent many winters in Arizona. When they returned to Sleepy Eye during the summer months, Wendelin worked for Norwood and Mathiowetz Construction delivering parts. Wendelin was a pilot for many years and enjoyed flying his five different airplanes from 1953-1990. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Eagles and the KCs.
Survivors include his children, Eugene of Sleepy Eye, Richard (special friend Gloria) of Fairmont, Phyllis (John) Griebel of Searles, Marlys (Larry) Zeig of New Ulm, Larry (LaVonn) of Sleepy Eye, Sue (Dan) Helget of Sleepy Eye, Michael (Lori) of Sleepy Eye, Barb (Rick) Nelson of North Port, FL, Lyle (Susie) of Temecula, CA, Curtis (Heidi) of Willmar, MN and Ronnie (Michelle) of El Cajon, CA; 29 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; sister, Gen Berberich, brothers, Linus (Lois) and Dennis (LaNette) and sister-in-law, Sylvia Braun, all of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delrose in 2006; son, Wendelin, Jr. in infancy; grandson, Ricky Nelson, Jr,; brothers, Victor, Cletus and Melvin; brother-in-law, Harold Berberich; and sister-in-law, Eileen Braun.
