Grackle Days continues today, Sunday

WINTHROP – The 30th Annual Winthrop Grackle Days saluting hometown military heroes continues today and Sunday, April 5 and 6.

Saturday events include the 5k Camouflage Run beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Winthrop Area Clinic-Alina. Registration-check-in starts at 8 a.m. Part of the proceeds support the Wounded Warrior Project.

A scavenger hunt for the Golden Grackle Egg begins at 2 p.m. in the Winthrop City Park. Winthrop’s Royal Tea Party is set for 2 to 4 p.m. at First Lutheran Church.

A pork chop dinner sponsored by the Winthrop Fire Dept. will be held 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Winthrop Fire Hall. A variety show will be held Saturday night at the high school auditorium.

Sunday events include an omelet breakfast with fruit, toast and a beverage prepared by the Winthrop Lions, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. A queen coronation begins at 1:30 p.m. in the school school auditorium followed by a 3 to 6 p.m. polka dance ]at Tanker Bay Sports Bar. A lunch fund-raiser will be prepared by The Winthrop Garden Club.
