Spengler at State Geography Bee

Peter Spengler, grade seven, St. Paul’s Lutheran School, tied for 11th place out of 100 students at the State Geographical Bee at St. Cloud State University on Friday, April 4. Spengler missed advancing to the final round (the top 10 students in the state) by a single point. The winner of the State Bee, Lucas Eggers from Rochester, advanced to the National Geographic Bee in Washington, D.C., in May.

Meyer wins essay contest

Lydia Meyer, grade four, (right) from St. Paul’s Lutheran School, won an essay contest sponsored by the Barnes & Noble Store in Mankato, with an essay titled “My Favorite Teacher.” Meyer’s essay honored her teacher, Carol Schoenherr, (left). Meyer received a certificate and a book prize. Schoenherr received a collection of classic books for her classroom in a ceremony at Barnes & Noble in Mankato on Saturday, April 5.
