PREP SPORTS: Eagle girls finish 3rd at Marshall

MARSHALL – The New Ulm girl’s golf team finished third out of six teams with a team score of 420 at the Marshall Invitational on Saturday.

Corinne McKeeth led the Eagles with a 99, while Tasha Holm tallied a personal-best 101 with 50 on the front nine and 51 on the back.

Julia Schaefer shot a 109 and Kendra Clyne had a 111 to round out the team scoring. The Eagles’ only other golfer at the meet was Sydney Byro, who tallied a personal-best 114.


NU boys 3rd, girls 5th

HUTCHINSON – The New Ulm boy’s track and field team finished third while the girl’s team finished fifth last Thursday at the Hutchinson Invitational.

Tanner Ogren was the lone winner between both teams, taking first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.40 to score 10 of the boy’s team’s 100 total team points. Ogren also placed second in the high jump with a 5-8 mark.

Other second-place finishers include Tevin Mooter in the triple jump (38-3.75) and Jordan Hillesheim in the long jump (19-5.25). Third-place finishers on the boy’s team were Ogren in the 100-meter dash (12.18) and Hillesheim in the high jump (5-6).

Eighth-grader Sarah Preisinger was the highest placewinner individually on the girl’s team, taking second in the 800-meter run (2:44.85).

The 4×100 team of Sara Sorell-Hoffmann, Alyssa Kelley, Makenna Kluis and Hailey Trautmiller placed second with a time of 55.42.

Individual third-place finishers include Preisinger in the 1,600-meter run (5:55.70) and Allison Rosenhammer in the 300-meter hurdles (55.67).

MVL?boys 5th, girls 4th

MOUNTAIN LAKE – The Minnesota Valley Lutheran boy’s track team placed fifth while the girl’s team placed fourth at the Mountain Lake Area Invitational on Friday.

The Chargers featured one first-place winner on the girl’s team – Kira Fosburgh with a jump of 15-3 in the long jump. Maggie Rauh finished right behind Fosburgh in the event with a 14-7.5 second-place jump.

Fosburgh took second in the high jump with a mark of 4-8 and Rauh tallied another second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.6.

The girl’s 4×200 team of Rauh, Shanna Thompson, Mariah Stein and Bridget Brown place second with a time of 2:00.9.

Stein placed third in the 300-meter low hurdles with 52.17, while Sarah Stelljes finished third in the 100 high hurdles with 18.33 – both personal records.

The boy’s team had two first-place finishers – Bryan Kokesch in the 1,600-meter run (5:08.15) and Brandon Steffl in the 3,200 (10:43.25).

Barrett Carlson finished second in the shot put (39-2.5) and Kyle Buch finished second in the 800-meter run (2:20.47).
