Cathedral girls, CM boys pick up a win

FAIRFAX – The New Ulm Cathedral girl’s golf team defeated Cedar Mountain, while its boys fell to Cedar Mountain.

Ellie Dittrich (44) and Grace Gillis (46) led the Cathedral girls. Courtney Nelsen shot a 42 for Cedar Mountain to medal. Erica Bock added a 53.

Tristin Pietig was the boy’s medalist with a 41, while Josh Green and Andrew Fischer each shot a 47 to help lead Cedar Mountain to the win.

Conner Jakes (51) and Hunter Bode (53) were the top golfers for Cathedral.

Cathedral will golf on Friday at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, while Cedar Mountain competes on Thursday at Wabasso.

SANBORN – Wabasso won the boy’s Red Rock Central Tournament on Tuesday and Westbrook-Walnut Grove won the girl’s tournament.

Joey Felt of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton was the medalist for the boys with a 46.

Shawn Zollner of Wabasso shot a 47 and Chase Haase carded a 48. Talon Irlbeck (50) and Conner Huhnerkock (56) rounded out Wabasso’s scoring.

Zach Kircher of RRC shot a 47. Carter Engen (51), Cole Baumann(54) and Max Miller (56) rounded out the scoring.

Abby Herding of Westbrook-Walnut Grove was the medalist with a score of 45.

Wabasso’s Brooke Maasch shot a 57, Jenna Henriksen scored a 59 and Sidney Pitzl and Gabby Welch each shot a 69.

Hannah Sell of RRC scored a 60 while Courtney Teveldal shot a 70. Nautica Weis finished with a 79.

BLHS 181, Sleepy Eye 197, MVL 211 (boys)

BUFFALO LAKE – The Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart boy’s golf team won a triangular against Sleepy Eye and Minnesota Valley Lutheran, while the Sleepy Eye girls beat MVL and BLHS on Tuesday at Oakdale Golf Course in Buffalo Lake.

The Mustangs’ Zack Almich and Kyle Mellies earned medalist honors each shooting a 44 on the boy’s side.

Sleepy Eye’s Ben Laffen and Caleb Christensen tied as the runners-up on the boy’s side, each having shot a 45. BLHS’ Jack Broderius and Sleepy Eye’s Wyatt Kosmatka each shot a 46, while Alex Girodat of BLHS shot a 47.

Sleepy Eye’s Karrah Remus earned medalist honors on the girl’s side with a 48. Teammate Lauren Laffen was the runner-up with a 51.

MVL will face Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Sleepy Eye.

BLHS will host BOLD at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at Oakdale.

Sleepy Eye will host BLHS at 4:30 p.m. on May 1.
