Schell’s to run shuttle bus on Saturday
To the editor:
It has been brought to our attention that there will be four local high schools having prom this year on the same date – Saturday, April 26.
In the past, Schell’s Brewery and its Gardens has become a very popular location for pre-prom pictures. Schell’s Gardens, while they are privately owned, are open to the public and we welcome visitors. However, we anticipate that with all four school’s proms on the same day this year, it could become quite a congestion issue here on the grounds. Parking has always been very limited here, both in our small lot and on the narrow roadway in, and fills up rapidly on weekends with just our Brewery visitors. With the combination of potential prom-goers taking pictures, along with their parents, and our Brewery visitors, parking would be pretty much non-existent, and therefor making access to the grounds a real problem if there should be an emergency.
For everyone’s safety, the road into Schell’s will be closed for that day. Schell’s will have a 15-passenger van that will be shuttling people in and out all afternoon. Or, for those that would like to, you are welcome to walk the short distance in. No one will be allowed to drive onto the grounds.
We understand that this may not be the most convenient for some, but we must look out for everyone’s safety, including our brewery employees, visitors and also the prom attendees. A very narrow roadway limits our access – and there is only one way in and out. You are most welcome to come and enjoy our Gardens, but we do ask that you understand our need for ensuring everyone’s safety.
We also ask that while here, you please respect our gardens and the grounds. Some areas will be rather fragile this early in the spring, and we ask that you cooperate and avoid certain areas that may be closed off.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
