Dist. 88 referendum
THUMBS UP: The District 88 School Board has set a date for a referendum on a school building bond. District voters will have a choice on Aug. 12 on whether to build a new high school and remodel existing schools.
Between now and August, the school district has an important task – to make the case for the new building and to explain the facilities use plan and costs. District voters have an important job as well, to take in this information, to assess it and judge whether this plan is worthy of support.
This will be an important decision, one that will help determine the future of education in the district. We hope everyone will carefully consider the arguments and make an informed choice.
THUMBS UP: It’s not really news if you live near beautiful downtown Essig. We already knew that Carl’s Corner has the best chicken in the whole durn state.
But now the secret is out. WCCO-TV took a poll for its “Best of Minnesota” series, and Carl’s Corner in Essig was voted as serving the best fried chicken in Minnesota. (It’s actually “broasted,” a process that involves cooking the chicken in oil like a deep fryer, but under pressure to keep in the juices and flavor.)
Since the WCCO story aired last week, Carl’s has been busier than ever, and deservedly so.
Congratulations to Pat and Kenny Berg and all the crew at Carl’s Corner.
