Franken to discuss propane shortage on Friday in Winthrop
WINTHROP – On Friday, May 2, U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) will be in Winthrop to discuss the propane shortage.
At 9:30 a.m., Franken will be at the United Farmers Co-op in Winthrop. He will discuss his efforts to prevent another propane shortage with Minnesota farm and energy leaders. The shortage drove up prices for thousands of families, farmers and businesses at the height of winter. The meeting comes one day after the U.S. Senate Energy Committee will hold a hearing requested by Franken to investigate the causes of the recent propane shortage.
Following the event in Winthrop, Franken will be at Jones Metal Products in Mankato at 11:30 a.m. to discuss his work to expand partnerships between businesses and two-year community and technical colleges. The meeting will include company leaders and top officials from South Central College in Mankato.
