Prep baseball: Rockets survive in marathon game

HECTOR – Comfrey/Cedar Mountain scored three runs in the top of the 11th inning to earn a Tomahawk Conference win over Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Friday.

Chandler Rose was the winning pitcher, going seven innings, giving up no runs, three hits and striking out nine.

Mitch Treml was 1-for-5 for C/CM. Drew Dallenbach went 1-for-3 with a run and a walk.

C/CM (2-9) will play at New Ulm Cathedral on Monday. BLHS will host Springfield on Monday.

New Ulm 4,

Minneapolis SW 3

ST. CLOUD – New Ulm defeated Minneapolis Southwest in nonconference baseball action at the St. Cloud Tournament on Friday.

Andrew Stewart earned the win in relief. He went three innings and allowed three hits and three runs. He struck out two.

Tyler Dittrich was the starter, going three innings and allowing one hit and one walk. He struck out two.

Stewart, Jarin Spence, Chase Meyer and Jackson Yackley each had a hit for the Eagles. Grant Kannegiesser, Yackley, Meyer and Jesse Baumgartner scored a run for New Ulm.

New Ulm (7-1) plays Annandale at 9 a.m. and Maple Grove at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday in St. Cloud.

Loyola 12, MVL 9

MANKATO – Mankato Loyola defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran in nonconference baseball action on Friday.

Eric Westphal took the loss, allowing all 12 runs and 13 hits. Offensively for MVL, Jacob Hoffman was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs. Nick Dewanz was 2-for-4 with a double and a run and four RBIs. DeAndre Parker was 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

MVL is at Wabasso on Monday.
