Denn lifts Eagles over Saints in 12th

New Ulm 4, St. Peter 3

ST. PETER – New Ulm’s Brittany Denn drove in the game-winning RBI in the 12th inning to take a win against St. Peter Monday in a South Central Conference softball game.

Denn was 1-for-4 with one run scored and walked twice. New Ulm’s winning pitcher, Tori Botten pitched 12 innings. She gave up three runs, struck out 10 and walked one.

Offensively for New Ulm, Rachel Strandmark was 3-for-6 with two runs scored. Hannah Backer went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Ellie Schneider went 2-for-6 with one run scored.

New Ulm (7-4 overall, 4-0 SCC) will host Blue Earth Area Thursday.

New Ulm Cathedral 25, C/CM 0 (5 innings)

COMFREY – New Ulm Cathedral crushed Comfrey/Cedar Mountain on Monday in a Tomahawk Conference softball game.

Kristin Mohr was the winning pitcher as she pitched all five innings. She gave up no runs, three hits, had six strikeouts and no walks. She was 1-for-2 from the plate with a home run. Anne Schwarz was 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

For C/CM, Katelyn Christensen was 2-for-2.

New Ulm Cathedral (9-1, 7-0) will host Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s today in a doubleheader. C/CM will host Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Thursday in a doubleheader.

BLHS 2, Springfield 1

SPRINGFIELD – Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart nipped Springfield on Monday in a Tomahawk Conference softball game.

Katie Kalenberg was the winning pitcher. She gave up one run, four hits, and she struck out 12.

Molly Dunn was the losing pitcher. She gave up two hits and she struck out nine.

Springfield (5-6) will host Wabasso in a doubleheader today. BLHS will host Wabasso on Thursday.

Sleepy Eye 1, GFW 0

WINTHROP – Sleepy Eye defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in Tomahawk Conference softball action on Monday.

McKayla Ahlrich earned the win for Sleepy Eye. She struck out 12 and allowed five hits.

Erin McDurmont took the loss for GFW, striking out 10 and allowing eight hits.

Offensively for Sleepy Eye, Ahlrich was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Jordan Domeier was 2-for-3.

For GFW, Jessica Bode was 2-for-3.

GFW (3-3) is at New Ulm Cathedral on Thursday for a doubleheader and Sleepy Eye is at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Thursday for a doubleheader.
