Sleepy Eye wins big over Chargers

Sleepy Eye 13, MVL 2 (6 innings)

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye crushed Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Tuesday in Tomahawk Conference softball action.

Kayln Haas was the winning pitcher. She went six innings, gave up two runs on five hits, walked one and struck out five batters.

Karissa Schlottman was the losing pitcher. She pitched all six innings, gave up 13 runnings on 12 hits, struck out three and she walked two batters.

Jamie Wells went 4-for-4 for Sleepy Eye. She had two runs scored and three RBIs. Josie Schieffert went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Jamie Fischer was 2-for-4, two runs scored and four RBIs. She also had a double.

Mary Kate Santelman went 1-for-2 for MVL with a home run and one RBI.

Sleepy Eye (6-0, 7-0) will play at crosstown rival Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Thursday in a doubleheader. MVL will play at Comfrey/Cedar Mountain on Thursday in a doubleheader.

Madelia/Truman 7, JWP 1

MADELIA – Madelia/Truman defeated Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 7-1 in Valley Conference softball action on Tuesday.

Beth Kotewa was the winning pitcher for Madelia/Truman. She pitched a complete game and allowed one run on three hits, two walks and eight strikeouts.

Savannah Hodge went 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Jayhawks offensively.

Madelia/Truman (4-8, 2-2) will host Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial on Thursday.
