Sleepy Eye Board OKs trip to St. Louis
SLEEPY EYE – The Sleepy Eye Public School board unanimously approved a senior high band and choir trip to St. Louis April 9 to 15, 2015 on Wednesday.
Students will attend music clinics at Washington University and perform at the Music in the Parks Music festival, tour the Gateway Arch, take part in a Royal Dumpe Medieval Dinner Theatre and tour Six Flags St. Louis. Student costs are $350 each based on 54 paying students, eight paying chaperones and two directors absorbed in student cost through Leisure Time Tours.
Proceeds from various fund-raisers will cover some of the costs.
The board also approved;
The resignation of library assistant Kathy Bergs after 25 years service.
A 2014 through 2018 transportation contract with Sleepy Eye Bus Service with 2 percent annual costs hikes only for bus routes. Other transportation rates remain the same.
An iPad security deposit policy giving parents the option of paying $41 annual IPad insurance or paying a $50 annual refundable deposit to the school district.
Superintendent John Cselovszki said all sophomores will use iPads next s year.
“I’m excited about it. I think it’ll be really neat for students,” social studies teacher Kevin Schneider said. “We’re creating iBooks with imbedded videos for social studies classes.”
Accepted a $4,000 scholarship donation from Mary Lou Mathiowetz on behalf of herself and Richard Mathiowetz.
