MVL boys take 1st, girls 3rd at LS-H
LE SUEUR – The Minnesota Valley Lutheran boy’s track and field team took first at the Giant Relays at Le Sueur-Henderson, while the girl’s team took third on Friday.
Barrett Carlson finished first in the shot put with a throw of 46-7.
The Chargers took first in the 4×100 (47.87) and 4×400-meter (3:39.18) relays, as well as the throwers’ relay (50.49) and co-ed distance medley relay (4:29.67).
Second-place finishers for the Chargers include Lukas Borgwardt in the triple jump (38-3), Seth Kroells in the 400-meter dash (56.05) and Sam Wiechman in the 300-meter hurdles (42.81).
The 4×200 (1:48.27) and 4×800 (9:44.43) also took second place.
Kira Fosburgh was the highest placewinner for the girl’s team with a second-place finish in the high jump (4-10). The girl’s 4×800 team took second (10:50.69).
SEU girls 4th, boys 5th
ST. JAMES – Sleepy Eye United girl’s track and field finished fourth out of five teams, while the boy’s finished last at the St. James Locomotive track meet on Friday.
The girl’s 4×100 and 4×200 teams of Nikki Carr, Samantha Walter, Becca Schmitz and Jamie Marti placed first. Marti also placed second in the 200.
Andrew Steffl placed first in the discus (125-02.5) and shot put (43-04). David Jasso placed second.
NUHS?boys 4th, girls 6th
WORTHINGTON – The New Ulm track team participated in the 2014 Trojan Relays on Friday. New Ulm finished fourth in the boy’s meet with a score of 81. The girls finished in sixth place with a team score of 78.5.
Tanner Ogren was first in the 400-meter dash with a personal best of 52.06.
Jordan Hillesheim was third in the boy’s long jump with a 19-08.75.
In the girl’s 4×100-meter relay, Sara Hoffman and Makenna Kluis attained a personal best of 53.59 which was good for a third-place finish.
Hailey Trautmiller was third in the long jump with a 14-09.00.
Michaela Howk finished second in the high jump with a 4-08. Morgan Eikanger was third with a 4-06.
