Cathedral survives scare from BLHS

New Ulm Cathedral 8, BLHS 6

HECTOR – New Ulm Cathedral edged Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Friday in a Tomahawk Conference softball game.

Kristin Mohr was the winning pitcher. She gave up six runs, nine hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Mohr was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Anne Schwarz was 3-for-3 with four RBIs.

Katie Kalenberg pitched all seven innings and she took the loss. She gave up eight runs, 11 hits, walked three and she struck out two. From the plate, she was 4-for-4 with three RBIs.

New Ulm Cathedral finishes its regular season 16-0 in the Tomahawk Conference and 18-1 overall. It will host the winner of the BLHS-Martin Luther game on Tuesday in the Section 2A playoffs. Cathedral is the No. 1 seed in Section 2A.

Mounds View 0

MOUNDS VIEW – New Ulm scored a run in each of the final three innings to earn a win against Mounds View on Friday in nonconference softball.

Torri Botten was the winning pitcher. She went seven innings, gave up no runs, six hits and she struck out two batters.

Brittney Denn was 2-for-4 with a run scored and Rachel Strandmark went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Abby Kamm was 1-for-2 with one RBI.

New Ulm (13-4) will host Blue Earth Area at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

GFW 15, C/CM 0

COMFREY – Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Comfrey/Cedar Mountain in Tomahawk Conference softball action.

Jennica Hawker had the lone hit for C/CM.

C/CM plays Minnesota Valley Lutheran in the Section 2A playoffs Tuesday in Sleepy Eye.
