NEW ULM – Donald Konakowitz, 87, of New Ulm died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Donald Sutton officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Annabelle Konakowitz of New Ulm; daughter Jeanne Konakowitz of Altadena, CA; son, James (Maria) Konakowitz of Altadena, CA; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elaine Fischer of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harry and Bill Konakowitz.
Donald John Konakowitz was born on Nov. 18, 1926 to Henry and Alice (Noller) Konakowitz in New Ulm. On July 20, 1950 he was united in marriage to Annabelle Boversen at Bastwood Grove Church in Hastings. Donald worked for Retzlaff’s Motor Company for 13 years as a book keeper. He also worked for American Artstone for over 35 years, retiring in 1990. Donald enjoyed taking his children on hiking trips and ice skating. He enjoyed going out to dance with friends and fishing. Most of all, he loved walking to the library and reading. He was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
