Let’s earn the final dollars for the community prize!
To the editor:
For many people in New Ulm, their 12-month participation in the LOSE IT to WIN IT Community Health Challenge from The Heart of New Ulm Project is coming to an end. As Chair of the New Ulm Medical Center Foundation, we were happy to help provide $50,000 of the $100,000 total available in support of the community prize. The LOSE IT to WIN IT challenge was a great opportunity to get a lot of helpful tips about how we can make healthier choices, lose some weight, improve our health and reduce our risk for heart attack and other diseases.
I hope the challenge helped you support each other and take some steps toward achieving a personal weight loss or weight management goal. Whether you lost a few pounds, several pounds or none at all, everyone deserves a pat on the back for taking a step toward being healthier for themselves and their community.
At this point, the Heart of New Ulm team informs me that our community has raised a total of $33,735 through the challenge, which will be used toward purchasing some amazing outdoor fitness equipment for our New Ulm Parks and also some improvements to better support bicycling in our community. This is a significant amount, but there is still a lot more money – about $63,000 – toward the community prize that we can earn!
If you are participating in LOSE IT to WIN IT, you need to do two final things to help yourself and our community “weigh in” for success. They’re both easy and quick and will help us earn more money, as well as help you earn a free t-shirt. First, you need to do a final weigh-in at a kiosk. Second, you need to complete a final survey when your 12 months are up. The Heart of New Ulm Project will send you an email when it’s time to complete the survey and you can also look for a link to it to appear on your LOSE IT to WIN IT account homepage. As an added incentive, your name will be entered into a drawing for $50 in Chamber Bucks once you complete these two things.
I hope you’ll take these final steps needed to help New Ulm “weigh in to win” and earn these great amenities to help our community members and future generations stay active.
