PREP SOFTBALL: Wabasso trucks on through 3A consolation

COTTONWOOD – The Wabasso softball team stayed alive with a 12-0 five-inning win against MACCRAY and a 6-4 win against Dawson-Boyd in Section 3A consolation play on Saturday.
Callie Rohlik got the win in both games, having compiled 20 strikeouts on the day for the Rabbits (14-8, 8-6 Tomahawk).
In the first game, Becky Franta was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Ali Benz was 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Erin Liebl was 2-for-2 with a double and a triple.
Liebl was 3-for-4 with an RBI and one run scored in the second game, while Franta was 2-for-3.
Wabasso will play Murray County Central at 4 p.m. on Tuesday in Cottonwood. The winner will play Edgerton/Ellsworth in the consolation finals.

COTTONWOOD – Springfield defeated BOLD 4-2 in the Section 3A consolation bracket before falling to Murray County Central 4-3 to see its season end on Saturday.
In the first game, Molly Dunn got the win in the circle, having given up two earned runs on three hits with four walks and 11 strikeouts in the complete-game effort.
Kelsey Platz went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run for the Tigers.
Dunn got the loss in the second game with six strikeouts and four walks along with four earned runs on nine hits in a complete game.
Natalie Timm went 3-for-5 with one RBI and Platz went 2-for-5 with one RBI.
