Marjorie “Marge” Halverson

NEW ULM – Marjorie “Marge” Halverson, 88, of New Ulm died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Jo Anne Taylor and Pastor Ric Jacobsen officiating.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Sunday. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Brighton Township, Nicollet County at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014.

Marge is survived by her daughter, Jane Starz of New Ulm; daughter-in-law, Joyce Halverson of New Ulm; grandchildren, Jenni (Dave) Dent of Canyon Country, Ca, Aaron (Shelly) Starz of St. Stephen, Adam (Kim) Starz of Ghent, David Halverson of New Ulm, Jason Halverson (special friend, Rachele Johnson) of Sleepy Eye; great grandchildren, Noah and Danni Dent, Amanda, Avery and Abigayle Starz, Emmalise and Adalynn Starz, Haley Jo Nachreiner; sister, Marilyn (Leonard) Hayden of Arvada, CO; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert “Bob” Halverson on Sept. 27, 2012; son, Richard “Dick” Halverson; son-in-law, Jerry Starz; sister; Harriet; and brothers, Darrell, Ted, Bernie and Walton.

Marjorie Adora Ketcham was born on July 22, 1925 in Spencer, Iowa to Elmer and Margaret (Tlam) Ketcham. On Oct. 5, 1947 she was united in marriage to Robert Halverson in Spencer, Iowa. She enjoyed camping, quilting, craft work, and being a professional volunteer. Marge was a 4-H leader and judge and was very involved in the United Methodist Church.
