All-star softball series at Caswell Park
NORTH MANKATO – The Minnesota High School Fastpitch Coaches Association and the National Softball Association Minnesota Sports Federation are co-sponsoring the 26th Annual Minnesota High School All-Star Girls Softball Series on June 8th which promotes and highlights Minnesota girls fastpitch softball.
The All-Star Softball Series will feature 72 of the state’s best senior softball players along with 12 outstanding high school coaches. The 72 all-stars were selected from more than 6,000 players across the state. The players are then drafted onto six teams by high school class. The teams play in a tournament totaling six games.
Seven players with local ties will play in the all-star series. They include Lindsay Simon and Karlee Pfaff of New Ulm Cathedral, Kali Denn and Ellie Schneider of New Ulm High School and Karissa Fleck, Larissa Helget and Bethany Berkner of Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s.
Also New Ulm High School coach Kristi Andersen Loose and her assistant Danielle Andersen will coach the Ice Team. Berkner and Helget will play for the Breeze team, Simon, Fleck and Pfaff will play for Blizzard. Denn and Schneider will play for Ice.
The All-Star Series will include a Hall of Fame Banquet and breakfast buffet for the players, coaches, umpires, staff and volunteers as well as opening ceremonies, nine games and closing ceremonies. Ticket price is $15 which includes admission to the banquet, breakfast, admission to the games at Caswell Park and a souvenir program.
The festivities will be held at Caswell Park in North Mankato on Sunday, June 8 with opening ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. and games at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
